On Thursday, January 28th, after more than six months of planning, Create Little Rock, the Little Rock Regional Chamber's new talent initiative, launched with 435 members and guests at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center Ballroom.
Create Little Rock is presented by Best Buy Co., Inc., in partnership with Centennial Bank and Pulaski Technical College. Additional partnership marketing opportunities are available by contacting Barri Bridges, 377.6014.
The purpose of Create Little Rock is to retain, develop and attract a talented, creative and competitive workforce to enhance the economic development of the Little Rock region.
Following an introductory meeting with a small, diverse group of interested Chamber member representatives on July 22, 2009, a volunteer start-up committee was convened and began regular meetings on August 5th. Over the next month, the group reached consensus on 1) purpose; 2) name; 3) membership investment; 4) funding; 5) governance; 6) committees and 7) programming. From August 26 through September 2, 2009, Start-up Committee members wishing to continue service on the eleven-member 2009-10 Steering Committee
submitted their names and information for consideration. Elections were held on September 2, 2009, and the inaugural Steering Committee met on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 to assign positions within the group. Those elected, their positions and respective Chamber member businesses/organizations include:
