Aerospace Industry Ascends in Central Arkansas
Manufactured products totaling more than $1 billion make aerospace the state's top export and land Arkansas 11th among all states in aerospace annual exports.
The region is home to Dassault Falcon Jet and Hawker Beechcraft, which anchor an aerospace cluster and help attract the many suppliers located in the region. Metro Little Rock has in excess of 20 aviation and aerospace-related companies employing 5,000 to 6,000 people.
As a result of aviation's regional presence and draw on the workforce, the Little Rock Region's Aerospace Workforce Development Taskforce created the Little Rock Regional Aerospace Alliance to meet growing workforce needs, promote aerospace as a career, and recruit more aerospace industry to Arkansas. That initiative has resulted in both the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and Pulaski Technical College implementing CATIA software
design engineering classes and other aviation and aerospace-related courses to meet the demands of the aviation and aerospace industry.
