Little Rock National Airport is served by American Eagle, Continental Express, Delta, Delta, Northwest, Northwest, Southwest and USAirways Express Airlines. Non-stop jet service is offered to Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Charlotte, Chicago (Midway and O’Hare), Cincinnati, Dallas (DFW and Love Field), Denver, Detroit, Houston (Hobby and Intercontinental), Las Vegas, Memphis, Newark and
St. Louis.
In 2008, the airlines serving Little Rock handled approximately 2.4 million passengers. The continued growth in passenger numbers has strengthened Little Rock National’s position with the airlines in seeking new and more direct service. In addition to commercial aircraft, the airport serves a large number of general aviation/private aircraft. Also on airport property are two of the region’s major aerospace employers, Dassault Falcon Jet and Hawker Beechcraft
Aircraft.
A number of improvement projects have been completed at the airport, including lengthening of the commercial service runway on the east side of the terminal by 1,050 feet and major upgrades to the concourse. Work continues on lengthening the general aviation runway (18 – 36) by 1,000 feet to the north. Other projects approved by the Commission are plans to build a baggage screening in-line system, which will remove the screening machines from the lobby, renovation of the ticket counters and the addition
of a lane in the security checkpoint to increase passenger throughput and decrease the lines during peak hours.
Little Rock National Airport continues to make great strides in providing services and additions that meet passenger expectations. New features like the live music program, co-sponsored by airport concessionaire HMS Host, continue to be very popular with customers, as is the Customer Care Center on the second level of the terminal that offers a wide range of customer services including Airport Angels volunteers, real time flight tracking maps on
both levels of the terminal, a mail back program, the Airport Special Assistance Program for those flying into or out of Little Rock for medical treatment, personal item bags and “booties” for passengers waiting at screening.
A new addition to the lower level in baggage claim is what is being called the “Market Place” concept which provides a more updated look with a new bistro arrangement that includes 18 new tables and seating. Guests in the terminal enjoy the warmth and comfort of the new space.
The Arkansas Gallery, which has been located on the concourse adjacent to Gate 6 at Little Rock National Airport, has reopened in a new second level location near the pre-security screening area making it available to all those who visit the airport. The exhibits reflect the rich cultural heritage found in both the city and state and provides a sampling of the world-class exhibits available at galleries, museums and other venues.
Another family friendly amenity is the newly installed family restroom post-security located adjacent to Gate 7 in the rotunda. Passengers traveling with small children or adults with special needs or circumstances may now experience the convenience, accessibility and privacy offered.
