"Mattie Ross" Sought for Coen Brothers' True Grit |

Paramount Pictures and the Coen Brothers (No Country For Old Men) are looking for a 14-year old girl to play the lead character of their new feature film, True Grit, based on the novel by Little Rock's Charles Portis.
The role of "Mattie Ross" and would shoot Spring 2010. The filmmakers are looking for a 12 to 16-year old girl who is "tough, strong and tells it like it is."
The filmmakers are open to all looks and no acting experience is necessary, so they are encouraging all matching the previous description to "come give it a try."
Auditions will be held Saturday, December 19th at The Peabody Little Rock (3 Statehouse Plaza), from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Only one family member may accompany each person auditioning.
Character Description
14-year old Mattie is a simple, tough as nails young woman. Her steely nerves and straightforward manner are a shocking contrast to the way women behaved in the early century. She's possessed of true grit and plenty of determination. Enough so, that she insists on going with two marshals to hunt down the killer of her father.
