UALR Women to Face Delaware in NCAA First Round Action at Jack Stephens Center

For the third-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, the UALR women’s basketball team will face Delaware as the Trojans host the No. 3 seed on Sunday, March 18 at 4:20 p.m. at The Jack Stephens Center. The Trojans, who received the automatic bid as the Sun Belt Conference Champions, was selected as a No. 14 seed.

“No doubt you can tell the kids are really looking forward to playing at home,” said head coach Joe Foley. “We get to play against a quality player like Delle Donne. You are going to get to play against some good teams and good players and Delaware is the one we have to focus on. I think it could be a heck of a match-up.”

No. 6 Nebraska and No. 11 Kansas will be the nightcap for the tournament games at The Jack Stephens Center with tip-off approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the UALR vs. Delaware match-up.

“Having Kansas and Nebraska in our bracket makes it that much more special,” said Foley. “Kansas in the Big 12 and Nebraska in the Big Ten, both from BSC conferences, and then along with Delaware, I think it makes for a great regional.”

The Trojans enter the game 20-12 overall after winning the Trojans’ second-straight Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and Sun Belt Tournament Most Outstanding Player Taylor Gault averages a team-high 16.3 points, while second team All-Sun Belt and All-Tournament team honoree Marian Kursh averages a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game.

Delaware enters the tournament 30-1 after clinching the automatic berth with the Blue Hens first-ever Colonial Athletic Association Tournament title.

The Blue Hens are led in scoring by All-American Elena Delle Donne who averages a nation’s best 27.5 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounds averaging 10.3 per game.

Tickets are still available for the games at The Jack Stephens Center. Chair back seats are just $50 for all sessions, while the end zone seats are $40 for all sessions.
