Since 1866, Chamber Leads Region's Business Community
The Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce is the principal business-driven leadership organization responsible for fostering the economic growth and development of the Little Rock Region to ensure that business and industry may operate profitably and enhance the earning opportunities and quality of life for every citizen.
Founded in 1866, the Chamber has provided business leadership in nearly every major area development in three centuries. A private organization, funded by business and organization members’ annual investment, the Chamber boasts over 2,000 member business/organization members employing approximately 150,000 throughout Central Arkansas.
The Chamber’s state-of-the-art headquarters, opened in December 2000, is considered the finest facility of its kind in the nation. Coincidentally, the building sits exactly one block east of the Chamber’s original, 1866 meeting place.
Since its first meeting in that grocery store on the side of Main between Markham and Second Streets immediately following the Civil War, the Chamber has helped create the city and region enjoyed today and provided the platform from which the community is now seeing the most significant growth in a generation. For as long as businesses, organizations and institutions bond together to conduct and protect commerce, the Chamber will be there to lead the community to even greater heights.
Southern Business and Development magazine’s Editor Michael Randle wrote, “If Little Rock were a stock, I’d buy shares in it.” That’s exactly what members do when they invest in the Little Rock Regional Chamber. So, buy – hold – and continue to reap the dividends.
