Natural Gas

Center Point Energy and its heritage companies have had natural gas operations in Arkansas since 1934. The company’s natural gas distribution business operates in six states, including Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Mississippi and Texas. With 107,646 miles of natural gas main and service lines, CenterPoint Energy delivered approximately 375 billion cubic feet of natural gas to three million residential, commercial and industrial customers in 2005.

In Arkansas, CenterPoint Energy serves over 400,000 customers and has approximately 600 employees. To improve reliability and safety, the company is currently undertaking a 30-year period to protect and update the underground pipe in Arkansas by replacing approximately 1,700 miles of cast iron and bare steel pipe with modern plastic pipe.
