Led
by the Clinton Presidential Center, Heifer International, and
Winrock International, Little Rock has emerged as a major center
for global non-profit organizations.
The newly constructed $165 million William J. Clinton Presidential
Center anchors the east end of the city and serves as a major
tourism magnet and economic development engine for the region.
Attendance levels at the Center are among the highest of any presidential
library in any year. The project was funded through private donations
raised by the William J. Clinton Foundation, which also leads
the former President's numerous policy initiatives. Located on
the same grounds as the Center is the University of Arkansas Clinton
School of Public Service, which offers the only degree of its
kind in the world. |

Adjacent
to the Clinton Center lies the home of Heifer International. Heifer's approach
to ending hunger by helping people become self-reliant is unique,
sustainable and extremely effective. Recognized by Forbes magazine
as a "Gold Star" top-ten U.S. charity, Heifer has
worldwide reach, but is homegrown in Arkansas. Since its arrival
in Little Rock in 1971, Heifer has enjoyed tremendous success,
closing it's 2005 fiscal year with revenues in excess of $75
million. Its new headquarters, planned in three phases, could
exceed $100 million in investment and include a "Global
Village" to demonstrate the organization’s work around
the world, while also serving as another major tourist attraction.
Heifer's workforce is expected to grow from 203 to 450 employees,
with an annual Arkansas payroll of $18.2 million. |

| Little
Rock is also home to Winrock International, whose brand new
headquarters is one of only 70 buildings in the United States
to achieve the Gold Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Winrock works with people around the world to increase economic
opportunity, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment.
A fourth
major non-profit is Lions World Services for the Blind, founded
in 1947, whose mission is to serve the blind and visually impaired
by equipping them with the skills to function in our "sighted"
society. They too, are investing a sizable amount, over $20
million, in a new headquarters and campus to be located next
to the Clinton Presidential Center and Heifer International,
east of Interstate 30 in Downtown Little Rock.

Little Rock's attractive cost of living, ideal location, thriving
downtown, strong workforce, new non-profit incentives, and most
importantly, commitment to building its surging non-profit corridor
make it an ideal place for locating leading charitable and service
organizations.
