Telecommunications
AT&T
The new AT&T, formed by a merger of SBC Communications and
the legacy AT&T, continues to launch leading-edge telecommunications
services and products for businesses and residential customers
in central Arkansas and other areas of the state.
AT&T was the nation’s first major telecommunications
provider to offer local/long distance wireline service, wireless,
data, high-speed Internet and in-home entertainment service –
all available with one customer call and one monthly bill. The
company’s products also include directory advertising and
publishing.
The AT&T Data Communications Services team can help business
customers integrate voice, data and video teleconferencing capabilities.
Multiple fiber rings in the metro area provide Little Rock businesses
with disaster recovery and backup capability.
The Little Rock area telecommunications network is 100 percent
digital with all central office switching centers connected via
fiber optic cable, providing an efficient and reliable data and
voice network. Fiber optic routes can be extended to new locations
if needed to serve the various communications needs of businesses
and industries.
AT&T DSL Internet Access Service allows business and residential
customers to access the Internet or corporate networks at download
speeds up to 6Mbps, through a dedicated connection to their central
offices. DSL Internet Access Service expands the bandwidth of
phone lines, allowing telephone service to remain undisturbed
even as subscribers simultaneously use the line for high speed
access to the Internet or a corporate local area network (LAN).
In addition, AT&T offers wireless service through Cingular
Wireless that can be included with AT&T Internet and phone
services packages. Other useful AT&T business products include:
VoIP for Business: Business customers in Little Rock and northwest
Arkansas can evolve their business to the next generation of communications
services with AT&T VoIP Services. AT&T offers a broad
portfolio of VoIP solutions that combine customized productivity
features such as a single inbox for voice and e-mail messages
and "find me, follow me" call routing options, along
with traditional voice services, delivered through a Web browser-based
interface. VoIP and other IP-based telecommunications services
are available nationwide.
YELLOWPAGES.COM:
This joint venture between the new AT&T Inc. and BellSouth
Corp., delivers deeper, more relevant local advertising content
to consumers. Consumers can search by keyword, business name or
business type for local results. Advertiser content becomes searchable
text, allowing consumers more ways to get relevant results. A
“click to call” feature lets consumers initiate free
nationwide direct calls from the phone of their choice to selected
businesses. Results also provide links to maps, driving directions,
Web sites, coupons and additional areas
. Wi-Fi: The company provides wireless Internet access through
thousands of public Wi-Fi hot spots provided by AT&T FreedomLink
service. Several dozen FreedomLink hot spots in Arkansas include
Little Rock National Airport and Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.
