Mixed-use development has reemerged as a hot trend in urban planning. One location where you can live, work and play is enjoying a major revival. But this trend used to be the norm. It wasn’t until the industrial revolution that industry and trade were separated from homes as advances in mechanical and agricultural technologies brought challenging environmental conditions and required special access and ample spaces to accommodate large and noisy machinery. To address these issues, cities around the world began to separate residential and commercial development through zoning.

The Metro Little Rock Alliance (MLRA) has launched a new brand and website to market the 12-county region to corporate executives, site selection consultants and potential new residents as a prime location to do business and live in Central Arkansas.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Arkansas Children’s Hospital in five specialties in the new 2019-20 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings published online today.  

The Little Rock Regional Chamber announced a new partnership with the local SCORE chapter of Little Rock.  Little Rock SCORE is a resource partner of the Small Business Administration that provides free and confidential business counseling tailored to meet the needs of your small business. The chamber will host office hours for SCORE mentors to meet with small businesses and potential small businesses. SCORE mentors are seasoned and successful business owners who volunteer their time to guide other businesses.

CZ-USA, the U.S.-based affiliate of Czech firearms manufacturer Česká zbrojovka a.s. Uherský Brod (CZUB), announced today plans to locate their North American Headquarters and build a new manufacturing facility on approximately 73 acres at the Port of Little Rock. CZ-USA plans to implement a two-phase approach with an investment of up to $90 million and create some 565 jobs over a six-year period. CZ products are considered some of the highest-quality firearms in defense, competition and sport shooting around the world.

Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) and local officials today announced Little Rock has completed the Competitive Communities Initiative (CCI) evaluation that aims to ensure the city’s preparedness to successfully compete for jobs and investments.

Since 1915 the Boys & Girls Club of Central Arkansas has built trust within the community and is considered the premier youth service organization in central Arkansas.

This week the Little Rock Regional Chamber is leading a delegation of 39 business leaders, principals, teachers and administrators from all four Pulaski County public school districts to Nashville, Tennessee, to participate in the 2019 Academies of Nashville Study Visit.

The Little Rock Port Authority has secured deals worth $3.7 million to purchase nearly 300 acres, including a 130-acre tract that port officials say would in turn free up nearly 1,000 acres of port property to establish a large site for heavy manufacturing.

The Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission, the governing body of Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, has approved business terms that will allow AFTERGLOW Aircraft Solutions, an Arkansas-based company offering aircraft interior and paint refurbishments and detailing, to locate operations at the Little Rock airport. AFTERGLOW will lease space in an existing hangar, formerly occupied by Hawker Beechcraft, at the Airport Business Park, which is located to the west of the commercial terminal. Initially, AFTERGLOW will lease 11,871 square feet, and plans to expand to 31,925 square feet with a workforce of approximately 60.

LumoXchange, a financial technology (FinTech) payments company, announces the launch of the world’s first currency exchange marketplace that lets users pick their exchange rates and send money.

Based in Little Rock, Arkansas, and a graduate of the VC FinTech Accelerator by FIS, LumoXchange provides exchange rates from its international partner financial institutions in each country and lets users compare rates, review customer ratings and select how their beneficiary will be paid.

Stone Ward, a full-service advertising agency with offices in Little Rock and Chicago, was recently named a 2018 Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation winner for its “Love, Little Rock” campaign. Executed on behalf of the Little Rock Regional Chamber and the city of Little Rock, “Love, Little Rock” was recognized in the “Word-of-Mouth (Viral, Buzz, Talk Triggers)” category, honoring tactics that “get key audiences talking or provide an avenue for conversation using different techniques.” The Bronze Anvil awards are presented by the Public Relations Society of America.
